We can all count the ways we’ve been challenged to pivot and adjust over the last year. From switching up our work and school routines, the way we socialize, and the ways we travel and adventure. Over the last couple of months we’ve seen an uptick in travelers like you seeking adventure in the mountains for their very first time. We’ve always been biased towards skiing, snowboarding, and fresh mountain air, and we are undoubtedly thrilled to welcome these folks to the mountains. But, as with everything during the pandemic, things are different now. Here’s a list of what you need to know if you’re headed to the mountains for the first time ever, or just the first time during a pandemic!
Plan in advance.
This has always been the key to a smooth and seamless vacation. But, we realllllly mean it this time. Planning ahead extends as far as reserving your ski days and restaurant dining (especially for busy travel dates!), ensuring your lodging reservations are compliant with current public health orders, and ordering your groceries ahead of time.
Expect things to look differently.
In our small tourist towns we are highly aware that our rules are more strict than many places across the USA. With that in mind, some things are different from seasons past. You can expect creative outdoor dining experiences, the enforcement of mask-wearing, limited capacities, and contact tracing when available. What this means for travelers is that you’ll feel safe, you can enjoy takeout cocktails, and reserve the hotel’s hot tub all to yourself! Maybe a different vacation experience isn’t so bad, afterall?

Perhaps the best part about taking a mountain vacation right now is that for the most part, things will feel pretty normal! Unlike vacations centered around nightlife, busy tourist attractions, and group tours, mountain vacations are focused on spending time in the great outdoors! Whether you are on the slopes, snowshoeing, or snowmobiling, you’ll always find that you have plenty of space to roam and stay socially distant while visiting ski resorts this season.
